Move with Me (ages 2-3) 45 Minute Class This class is the perfect way for a parent/caregiver and child to get acquainted with Dance! Move with me is especially designed for Young Dancers who are not ready to be on their own in class just yet. Moms or Dads, Nanny, or Grandparent are welcome in class to dance along with our little ones. This class does not participate in our end of the year recital. Bitty Ballerinas (ages 3-4) 45 Minute Class How long has your tiny been waiting to take their first dance class? The wait is over! Twinkle Babies is the perfect program for dancers to stay completely engaged while learning the basics of ballet, tap and creative movement. Tiny Dancers will learn how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment. Twinkle Babies do perform at our end of the year recital.
Twinkle Stars Dance (ages 3-4) 45 Minute Class Twinkle Stars is an age specific class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. Dancers will be introduced to three styles of dance, ballet, tap, & jazz. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. All of our Twinkle Stars perform one dance at our recital. ***Placement Notes: For the Twinkle Star Dance 3-4 class, students must be at least 3 1/2 years old.
Combo Cuties (ages 4-6) 45 Minute Class This Class is a perfect fit for dancers who are ready to explore more with dance. Combo Cuties will learn ballet, tap, jazz, and tumble! Our fun and positive instructors use music, stories and fun dance props to introduce ballet principles as new movement concepts are introduced each week. Social skills and self-esteem also are developed as children make new friends and enjoy each other through partner and group dancing. Yes, there’s a lot going on in these foundational classes! Combo Cuties perform in our end of the year recital in two dances, a tap and ballet.
Hip Hop Tots (ages 4-5) 45 Minute Class This is a high energy class which combines hip hop with creative movement taught to fun hip hop music. Allowing every tiny dancer to unleash their inner superstar! Dancers will be hopping all the way out of this class! Attire: any dance clothes with tennis shoes
Hip Hop (ages 6-17) 1 Hour Class The focus of the class is to build a strong technical foundation in hip-hop movement while also building performance quality and musicality. Each class includes a warm up (focusing on isolations of the body, conditioning, and stretching,) floor-work, technique, and combinations. This class is highly aerobic, teaching movement grounded in strength and confidence, and building quickness and agility of the body and mind. All hip hop classes perform a dance at our end of the year recital. Level I- Introduction to hip hop, no previous skills needed. All that is required is a lot of energy and positive mind set. Students will learn choreography that incorporates all styles of hip hop in a fun environment. Level II- Moving on up...this level will be fast paced and focus on the dancers physical awareness. Level III- Dancers who are confident in their ability to learn quickly and are ready to be on the next Beyonce video. Attire: any loose fitting clothes with tennis shoes/combat boots
Boys Hip Hop (ages 6-17) 1 Hour Class We are here to set the record straight...dancing is not just for girls! This class is sure to match any boys energy and need to dance, easy-to-follow choreography, and pure fun! This class is highly aerobic, teaching movement grounded in strength and confidence, and building quickness and agility of the body and mind. Get ready because you are about to be a hit at your next school dance! All boys hip hop will be performing at our end of the year recital. Attire: any gym clothes with tennis shoes
Musical Theatre (ages 10-17) 1 Hour Class Musical Theater is an exciting class that explores the world of acting and dancing combined! This class will help your dancer become a confident, self-assured performer who is ready to “ham” it up onstage! If you are interested in becoming a “Triple Threat”, this class is a MUST for you!
Contemporary/Lyrical (ages 8-17) 1 Hour Class Dancers will learn to be expressive through movement and will also be encouraged to develop their own sense of personal style. Lyrical is generally smoother and a bit faster than ballet, but not quite as fast as jazz. A contemporary dancer uses movement to express strong emotions such as love, joy and anger. So if you are feeling some type of way...this is the class for you. An understanding of Ballet technique is a pre-requisite in order to get the most out of this class. Attire: Fitted tank or sports bra, dance shorts, leggings or fitted capri, hair pulled out of face.
Jazz (ages 7-17) 1 Hour Class Our classes will explore classical jazz technique through strength building, flexibility, floor progressions, and combinations. Classes will focus on building a solid foundation of technique as well as learning how to execute their performance value in this super high energy fun class. Each Jazz class consists of warm-up using isolated movements, across the floor progressions, and current choreography.
Dancers will progress through our curriculum-based program based on ability level. After being recognized for accomplishments in technique as well as terminology-based achievements, the student will be promoted to the next level. Level I-The beginning level jazz class focuses on technique, musicality and syncopation in dance. Class consist of warm-up, across the floor, and a class combination using a variety of different music that you are sure to love! Level II- This level will be taught at a faster pace. You should have mastered all technique taught in previous level. Level III- To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet as it encourages grace and balance. This advanced level is for students who have mastered the levels I & II. Attire: Fitted tank or sports bra, dance shorts, leggings or fitted capri, hair pulled out of face. Jazz shoes required
Tap (ages 6-17) 1 Hour Class Dancers learn tap technique that emphasizes musicality through hearing and embodying rhythm. This joyful dance form teaches coordination, weigh shift, and balance. Students are challenged to learn choreography in a group setting, while emphasizing the individual creative process. In this class we will learn a dance to perform at our end of the year recital. Technique (ages 8-17) 1 Hour Class Training is a dancers way of life, this class will focus only on your technique. If you are looking to become a more serious dancer this is where you should be. Leaps & Turns focuses on center floor work and progression across the floor. MDC instructors work exclusively on the proper placement of feet and arms while continuing to practice perfect form on turns, jumps and extensions. We feel placement of a dancer is vital in their dance education, this is why we have given levels not just by age but by skill. This class does not participate in the end of the year recital. (but your leaps will thank you for it!) Attire: Fitted tank or sports bra, dance shorts, leggings or fitted capri, hair pulled out of face. Jazz shoes required
